Nature+Tech+Business

Technology is epic, and sometimes we’ve just got to ride the wave of the future. I recently discovered an article detailing how a unique business has transformed a local government’s approach to tree management.

For a little context, Forestree’s homepage states, “The new generation of Tree Management purpose-built for Local Government. Forestree makes tree inspections, works & risk management simple and easy.”

And from what we’ve seen, this statement is bang on!

But their partnership with a local government, the City of Marion, in Adelaide, Australia, got me fired up. Through Forestree’s tech, the City of Marion now has a wonderful way to monitor their urban trees.

Forestree provides efficiency and precision, cost savings, and sustainability benefits for local councils and thankfully this wonderful bit of technology is available for everyone to see.

The detailed map and simple yet eye-catching design allow you to navigate easily to all the features they’ve built. Search by suburb and find individual trees with an embedded Google Map.

Anyone can view the site's planting, watering, and work schedules. Work refers to maintenance, such as pruning and inspections. The site also includes great analytics surrounding the myriad activities that keep the trees healthy.

There are heaps to do and lots of fun to be had if you’re into data and analytics. Searching by suburb, you’ll find the estimated total carbon storage measurement and the comparisons in your area, dating back to 2018. You can view the future planting schedule until 2026/27 and search a comprehensive list of all the species with fun additions like a Top 10 and Iconic Tree list.

Not only does this technology allow municipalities to monitor tree health, predict potential threats, and make informed tree planting and maintenance decisions. It’s also a great initiative to get communities involved with their local trees and a step towards a little more harmony with nature, powered by technology.

As I said, epic!

🌐 Technological Disruption: Why Environmental Service Companies Need to Stay Ahead 🌐

Hello ForestMe Family,

By now, most of us have heard of AI, and some have even dabbled with chatGPT (if you haven't, you're missing out!). But what's all the fuss about?

🤖 AI: More Than Just Buzz 🤖

AI isn't just a buzzword; it's a transformative technology that's reshaping industries. Fueled by corporate competition and the fear of obsolescence, the world's biggest companies are in a race to develop the most efficient, intelligent, and low-power AI systems.

🌐 Quantum Computing: Not Just for Tech Giants 🌐

You might think quantum computing is irrelevant to your environmental service company. Think again. If it's important to your competitors, it should be important to you.

🌳 Why It Matters 🌳

The technological horizon we're approaching isn't just about staying competitive; it's about staying relevant. While your environmental service might not seem like an obvious candidate for AI integration, the real question is: What part of your service can't benefit from it?

📝 How I Used AI 📝

To give you an idea of how accessible this technology is, I used GPT-4 by OpenAI to help structure this very post. If I can do it, so can you.
